My buddies and I were kicking around future trip ideas and we discussed Bearpelt as possibility. Back when I was in high school (graduated in 97) our leaders considered this a destination lake. We entered through Badwater. From what I recall we had good fishing a decent campsites.

We attempted this to go back there around 2004, but a beaver dam had blown out of the Bearpelt Creek around then and the whole area had extremely low water. We ended turning back. My question, has the water level come up in that region? Would you still consider that region to be destination lake?

I was at Badwater last week with all intention of hitting Omeme and Bearpelt. The fishing was so good on Badwater we did not leave that lake. I did check out the Omeme entry from Badwater. Water levels looked descent. A group that went into Bee Lake said it was very low. We did notice that Badwater dropped a couple of feet the week we were there. Lots of Beaver activity there which probably explains the water situation. I would consider it a destination area.

I tried to get to Bearpelt in August 2008 and there was absolutely no water in the creek so I turned back. Unless there is a lot of rain from here on out I expect the creek would be impassible. Your best chance would be in May or June.
