I was looking around and thinking about next years trip. There are two of us. Kinda getting older so try not to portage too long. We have 10 days and have never been in western Quetico. Found suggested trip on Zups website. Start at Indian Village up Quetico River to Beaverhouse then Quetico Lakes. Then to Jean and eventually out the
Maligne River to Twin Falls.

Any thought on this. Would fishing be good. How about difficulty. Thanks in advance

Dan

If you've never been to western Q, take the tow to Bottle or McAree. Nice loop across Iron to Siobahn River to Argo, Darky, Darky River to Minn, McAree, out at Black Robe port. Scenic, great fishing, waterfalls, pictos, Warrior hill, it's got it all. With 10 days, plenty of time for side trips or just fishing, exploring the lake you're on. I'm considering doing this one again.

You have plenty of time for this trip, and a beautiful area. Be careful approaching Twin Falls from upstream, be certain to stay on the right, which is on the west at this spot. Just above the falls is a small side lagoon and the portage is there. If you are too far mid stream, it's over the falls for you.

My comment would be that you are going from your entry point to another entry point (Beaverhouse). Perhaps solitude is not an issue for you, but you will be running into people.

I'd agree with old salt though if you have plenty of time, the tow is optional IMO.

If you include Beaverhouse in western Q you've never done, by all means consider starting there. You can travel a long ways with only a few easy portages. Reported great fishing. Low cost with no tows and northern entry permit fees.
