I fished one day on Takucmich last summer and caught 4 lakes in about 4 hours. The next day was too windy so I went into Trygg and did really well catching Brookies. I have caught some nice lakers on Gun, but certainly tough to come by. If you’re looking to ensure catching lakers, head to Fat. You won’t catch any trophies, but you shouldn’t have any problems catching them.

MN DNR Lakefinder is a great resource for researching trips. I'd try to target lakers in Takucmich and Brookies in Trygg. Fat is also a good lake for lakers. Gun's last survey only caught one laker, a 23 year old 10 pounder. I'm no pro but I have been led to believe that you don't need to fish incredibly deep for trout until later on in the summer, just fish adjacent to deeper stuff. There are bathymetric maps on that DNR website as well.

I know Takumich & Gun hold lakers. Trygg is a brook trout lake. Don't believe the others hold trout of any kind.

Hello.

We are looking to target lake trout on a trip scheduled for June 10-17 and was wondering if any the above lakes, or any of the inland lakes near them, are good for lakers? Or should we stick to the big water and get deep?

Thanks!
