Planning my first solo in the first week of June and renting a NW Solo from Tusc. I have a CCS Pioneer pack and plan to use that as my only pack as I should have ample room and would like to single portage as much as possible. Main concern I have is will it fit in space behind me in the NW Solo and if so what issues may I get into with that set up? Weight will be around 300 pounds with me (6'4''/240) and pack. I'm getting dropped off at Poplar and paddling back to Round lake so will be on smaller more protected lakes (at least to start). Food will be mostly freeze dried in a BV500 (which I could put in another pack with camp gear but would rather not). Open to suggestions. Thanks --Ry
My pioneer pack fits great in my NW solo. I'm a kneeler, and with the pack right behind my seat and no weight in front of me, I'm a little out of trim.
I have also used a Pioneer pack with my NW Solo and it fits without any problem at all. For trim issues you could carry an empty dry bag and fill it with water as needed. That has worked well for me in the past. Have a great trip!
