Can anyone tell me how the paddle is and portages are from Entry point #84 - Snake going to Bald Eagle? Is this a difficult paddle? Going the last week of July. Any info is appreciated.

When the water is low it is a bit of a bugger. The stream is just wide enough for a canoe in many places, like 4' wide and lined with alder. None of the portages are tough but of course the first portage from your car is long.

Paddling something like a MN II or God forbid a MN III will make for challenging maneuvering. It is very winding in places. Sort of like playing bumper cars with your canoe.

Very narrow and meandering and I have paddled a MN III on it-definitely a challenge especially with rookie paddlers! Still doable and adds to the adventure.

Paddled the Snake River to Bald Eagle Lake & beyond last spring. I gave an account of the journey in this trip report. Ironing out the wrinkles in my soul

Def not a difficult paddle, in fact it is a lot of fun, as long as you’re not in a hurry. As mentioned in some spots it is only wide enough to fit your canoe thru, but it is deep enough all the way to BE. Might be my fav EP with the adventure getting in. Start early so you don’t hit a west wind blowing across Bald Eagle in the afternoon, it can get choppy, then your paddle might get a tad more challenging.
Enjoy the journey and have fun!
