I'm planning a trip for early September this year, I'm looking for some advice for where to go if I'm going to enter on Moose Lake entry point 25. We're going with three first timers and, for two of us, this will be our third trip.

Very short paddle to the Wind Lake portage, you could get to Wind Bay on the south end of Basswood easily on the first day. Some excellent campsites around Wind Bay.

Wind Lake itself is very nice as well.

Good recommendations. Depending on group base on Wind and day trip into Basswood or camp I'm last night on Basswood and paddle back through PP.

You could easily make Knife lake and have many options for day trips from there.

Ensign or Birch Lake would be nice for an easy 3-4 day trip off of Moose Lake.

Wind Lake is a solid recommendation, easy to get to & it is pretty in September (likely to see some beautiful fog over the water in the mornings). Birch Lake & Ensign are solid choices as well, a bit longer paddle to reach though easy enough to accomplish in one day. Knife Lake, while possible to reach in one day, would be a long travel day & many folks I've encountered break this up into two days as the stretch from Birch to Knife can take a decent amount of time, especially as a novice (if the trip was longer it would be more reasonable though I'd be wary that the first day traveling to Knife would wipe you out). Much of the season Birch & Ensign are pretty packed though in September you shouldn't have any problem finding an open site.
